They say women are very particular about their appearance and attire, the fit has to be perfect, they have an elaborate procedure of getting dressed and the make-up has to look 'natural'.
But let me tell you that the masculine variety can be just as fussy when it comes to clothes, especially formal attire. Now, one person who can take care of this need is Andrew, the young and dynamic proprietor of 'D'ziners' - an enterprise which deals with different kinds of fabric, designing of formal attire and stitching as well.
Inaugurated around twenty years ago, 'D'ziners' which is housed at Rangavi Shopping Complex in the heart of Margao city, has grown steadily along with its list of clients.
Says Andrew, "I myself didn't know that my business would grow so much. In fact, 'D'ziners' is doing so well that we have been forced to move into many other parts of Goa. Open six days a week, from 9:30 am to 8:30 pm, 'D'ziners' is essentially a place for people who love dressing up in formals / casuals / western / Indian. D'ziners take orders for all kinds of formal clothing; wedding attires are their speciality. At 'D'ziners' one can choose from a wide range of fabrics, personally picked by Andrew, which is imported from Mumbai and Bangalore. One can get a shirt / trouser / jacket / three-piece suit / wedding gowns / evening gowns (Indian and western) of their choice stitched. Says Andrew, "I'll never say no to a customer, no matter how difficult the job. I'll always get it done."
There are a range of designs that one could choose from. For the man with class, there is the classic tuxedo, or one could go for a more sophisticated double & single-breasted suit. Ethnic lovers need not worry as 'jodhpuris' & 'sherwanis' with different kinds of embroidered designs can be tailored as well.
Andrew, a resident of Benaulim, was once a student of the J J School of Arts. However, his stint there was cut short with the unexpected death of his father. At the age of 18, Andrew was forced to give up studies in order to run the family business which was tailoring. After successfully running a similar establishment in Mumbai, Andrew decided to set a shop in Goa. But Andrew added a whole new twist to the entire concept of tailoring. Explains Andrew, "The difference between an average tailor and 'D'ziners' is that here I make sure that the customer gets what he's looking out for. There should be no regrets later." I had first hand experience of seeing this when I noticed the personal attention Andrew showered on each of his clients. "In addition," says Andrew, "I even spend large amounts of money on sales promotions, as organising fashion shows, local radio campaigns, billboards all over the state, cinema theatres etc.
It is common knowledge in Goa at least, that the best suits come from 'D'ziners'. So, if there's a wedding coming your way, head towards the very best. Head towards 'D'ziners'.
